Long Summary

This chapter introduces the concept of family-focussed palliative care and explains the different components of what patients and families perceive to be the most important aspects of end-of-life care. The authors recognise that families play a fundamental role in contributing to the care of people with life-limiting conditions and highlights some of the gaps and and challenges families face when providing this care.
