Summary

Providing an overview of international policy and workforce issues, this chapter foregrounds the tensions surrounding paid care in societies which do not value caring. This chapter also explores the gaps which emerge between formal and informal care, and considers diverse ways to improve the place of caring for carers, care recipients, and paid care workers that includes policy changes, improved workforce conditions, increased carer payments and technology.
