Long Summary

The 'Mental Health Family Carer Experiences of COVID-19 in Australia' research project examined how the COVID-19 pandemic affected carers of people with mental health challenges. This study was conducted in collaboration with the National Mental Health Consumer Carer Forum and Monash University's SWITCH Research Group. The study found that the pandemic had a significant and negative impact on this group of caregivers. They interviewed a diverse range of carers, including younger and older carers, LGBTQ+ individuals, Indigenous communities, and other carers who assist people facing addiction, suicidal thoughts, or legal issues.
