This publication explores the impact of proactively treating and managing chronic illness on carers and the people they care for. Seeking to better understand what is commonly referred to as ‘treatment burden’, this article argues that there is an urgent need for healthcare professionals to identify and develop individualised treatment options for patients and their carers' to alleviate this stress.
