Using qualitative research methods, this article explores the experience of adolescent carers who care for a parent with severe mental illness. Through identifying their challenges, the study outlines what support and services would help meet the needs of these young carers better. The support of health care providers is identified as a major strategy that can improve carer health and wellbeing outcomes.
