Long Summary

This article explores the social exclusion that carers may face, suggesting that current social inclusion assessments often overlook care or perceive it as solely a barrier to inclusion. Through drawing on theories of care, the paper argues that current definitions of social inclusion need to be revised to become more carer-inclusive. The article encourages a greater focus to be placed on relational frameworks, arguing that relational frameworks of social inclusion can better reveal the structural inequalities of care.
