Summary

This report examines the current issues in unpaid caring in Australia and is intended as a discussion paper to inform future policy reforms. The report looks at the ways in which caring responsibilities effect workforce participation and examines the impact of time spent out of the workforce on the retirement incomes and savings of unpaid carers. The report is also complimented by the Supporting carers in the workplace toolkit which provides strategies for workplace improvement, enabling carers to meet caring responsibilities and continue paid employment.
