This study investigated the experiences of individuals who care for persons with age-related macular degeneration and the need to provide tailored support to these carers. The article describes caregivers as ‘hidden patients’ who often lack access to the support that they require. The study suggests implementing services that are directly relevant to the experiences of those who care for people with age-related macular degeneration and suggests ways to make social and financial support more accessible to carers.
