Long Summary

Reforms to disability policy leading to the introduction of the NDIS and service provision involving individualised support for people living with disability have had significant impacts on carers. The NDIS is, however, a highly targeted (rationed) scheme and is a consumer-directed model that tends to exclude carers. This report commissioned by the NSW Carers Advisory Council aims to establish whether there is strong evidence that carers of people with disability in NSW are missing out on the support they require since the introduction of the NDIS, and if so, why they are missing out.
