Long Summary

This article explores how caring for a person living with dementia can affect the carers ability to participate in social engagement. Using a semi-structured interview process, the participants shared the ways in which their social participation evolved along their journey. Four main themes are highlighted, namely, autonomy to choose, the impact of caregiving, using various strategies, and establishing meaningful connection.
