Summary

This paper focuses on the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in research and their perspectives on human rights and decision-making in the Australian context. The main objectives of the study are to understand how people with intellectual disabilities feel about making decisions, to explore what happens when people with intellectual disabilities make decisions, and to investigate best practice for supported decision-making. Through this research, the paper aims to bring to our attention to the challenges faced by people with intellectual disabilities, advocating for greater inclusivity and recognition of their rights, particularly in the context of decision-making processes.
