Health literacy of caregivers of adult care recipients

A systematic scoping review

Summary

This article analyses the health literacy of informal carers and how this correlates with health outcomes for care recipients. The results suggest that lower health literacy is correlated with higher carer burden, reliance on services, and poorer self-management behaviour. The study concludes with a number of recommendations aimed at improving our understanding of these relationships.
